James Greenblatt, M.D., chief medical officer of Walden Behavioral Care and Walden Psychiatric Associates, will discuss how integrative medicine can be used to treat not only depression, but other psychiatric disorders, including anxiety, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and eating disorders.
Integrative medicine focuses on the whole person and makes use of all appropriate therapeutic approaches to achieve optimal health and recovery.
Dr. Greenblatt will discuss how genetic tests can be used to identify which medications will be most effective for an individual. He will also explain how to address nutritional deficiencies that prevent optimal health. By addressing nutritional deficiencies, according to Dr. Greenblatt, patients can also eliminate side effects of medications.
“This is a unique opportunity to hear about the developments in the treatment of mood disorders using integrative therapies,” according to Dr. Greenblatt. “This presentation will explore the complex interactions between genetics, epigenetics, and dietary patterns that affect neurotransmitter synthesis and treatment response in patients suffering from depression.”
The presentation is open to the public, as well as to healthcare professionals.
